The first look at Marvel's upcoming Marvel Multiverse Roleplaying Game has been unveiled. Marvel.com published an interview with Marvel Multiverse lead designer Matt Forbeck about the new tabletop game, which will go on sale next week after a public playtest. Several inner pages from the playtest are included in the interview, including a statblock for Peter Parker's Spider-Man. The game will use a 3D6 system, with a single six-sided die identified as "the Marvel dice," according to the preview. You may read the three snippets below, which also include a Spider-Powers skill tree:
Forbeck also hinted at character development, stating that players' ability scores will be combined with those from archetypes. "MARVEL is an acrostic in which each letter stands for one of the game's six ability scores: Might, Agility, Resilience, Vigilance, Ego, and Logic," Forbeck explained. "Normal people's scores in each of these skills vary from -4 to 4, whereas superpowered characters' scores can be substantially higher. In the game, there are a variety of archetypes that identify the type of character you're playing—a striker, a blaster, and so on. When the character's talents are combined with their archetype, you get even bigger numbers for your attack and defensive rolls."
